Jennifer's Posts From Italy

Hey guys I'm going to be posting pictures and stories here about my experience studying abroad in Florence, Italy.
This is a picture that I took on the 3 hour bus ride back to Florence from Rimini. The mountains that we passed were beautiful but the sun was in the way so you can’t see the landscape well. I still have a lot of photos of Florence that I still have to post which I will do sometime soon^^

Then we left Urbino and went to Rimini. Why did we go to Rimini? To see this arch and this church. We drove over an hour just to see this arch and this church. I was underwhelmed. The point was that the architect, Leonbattista Alberti (who also did the facade of Santa Maria Novella in Florence), was inspired by that ancient arch and used that as inspiration to build the facade of this church so that it would fit into it’s surroundings.

The first picture is of one of the wooden doors in one of the many rooms in the Ducal Palace and I just thought that the carving on it was beautiful. The second picture is of a shop we found while going to get lunch. It’s Pinocchio themed!

The first picture is outside the Ducal Palace and the second picture is inside the courtyard of the Ducal Palace. It was freezing.

Our teacher made us climb a small hill in order to get a good view of the Ducal Palace from the back. She told us that it was supposed to look imposing and important to whoever was traveling to Urbino. The second picture is the arch we entered on our way to the Ducal Palace.

That night we got to Urbino and we stayed at a really nice hotel and they also took us to this great restaurant. This is the view from our hotel in Urbino.

Then we briefly stopped in San Sepolcro to see an altarpiece by Piero della Francesca and we got lucky because that day there was a huge outdoor market that they let us see for half an hour. This is where I bought a jar of honey!

This is the front and back of another church that we visited in Arezzo. The outside was nice but the inside was really plain.

I also got really excited because near the church there was this sign that said that that place was used as one of the setting of the movie La Vita e Bella! I watched that movie one day in my italian class and it was beautiful, I really loved it so I was really excited to find out that the movie was filmed in Arezzo because that’s where the director was born.

Sorry about not posting anything yesterday but I was busy looking up summer camps to work at and updating my resume. Anyway, today I’m going to post pictures from my class trip to Arezzo and Urbino. This is one of the churches that we visited in Arezzo.

Okay so that’s all the pictures I’m going to post today and that’s all the pictures I’m going to post from my trip to Barcelona. Tomorrow, I hope I’ll have time to post the pictures from my trip to Arezzo and Urbino so look forward to it!

More pictures of the fountain because I really liked it!

On the same day that we went to Tibidabo, we also went to see the Parc de la Ciutadella. The best thing about it was this gorgeous fountain!

Finally, a picture of me and Mariela, however it’s crooked. This is what happens when you ask an old lady to take a picture of you >_<

The second picture was taken when we climbed up the side of the church to enter into the upper part. The view was really great!

One of the days I was in Barcelona, we went up to Tibidabo where Mariela told me that there’s a legend that the devil spoke to Jesus there and that’s why they built this church there. It was pretty but to be honest, I’ve seen better in Italy :D

There’s also an amusement park there which I found strange. Who had the bright idea to make an amusement park where the devil once was?
